Prodigy 7.1 under Windows 7
written by desperatekid (User) | 03/06/2010 | 19:35 Hits: 907
Hello, everyone.
I'm using Windows 7 x64 and prodigy 7.1 (that is not lt, not hifi, not hd2). I can't deal with drivers. I've tried out many combinations but only installing 0.978 for Prodigy 7.1 helped a little bit. As a result I only have prodigy 7.1 and prodigy 7.1 controller drivers installed but I'm unable to install qve96-24 (wdm). When I'm trying to install it I got a message that my platform is not intended to work with it. I tend to think that down to this issue only 2 sattelites of my 5.1 systems works though windows configuration test runs correctly (so I could hear all channels). Another trouble is a prodigy control panel - it just don't keep my settings and not allow me to run a speaker test. I'll be extremely grateful if someone could help with my problem.

I'm having the same problem here :(.

Release date for driver version 0.978 is 2007-04-05, it would be great if there will be an update.

If support for this product is discontinued, and that decision is final, please let me know so I could sell my card to someone who uses XP or Vista.

Thanks...

Yes, I've contacted to tech-support and they told me that Prodigy 7.1 is not supported any more.

I expected that, it's a shame. I've found something about using VIA ENVY24 Win7 drivers, but they won't install. Somebody said somethind about flashing the card to make VIA drivers work, but can't find which firmware I need to flash. Someone mentioned Korean Audiotrak site, but I didn't find anything.

Yeah, I've tried this. But got only 'blue screen'. But I tend to think that there is some way to use these ENVY24 drivers. However I don't find a solution.

You've flashed the card or you just tried VIA drivers?

I'm back on Win XP at the moment, under XP VIA installer won't finish, it says "driver not installed" and only option is "Finish".

If you find out something new, please write it here. I will do the same.

No, I've tried to install these drivers under Win 7 x64 but without flashing the sound card it just causes 'blue screen'.
Okay, I keep on trying and I'll write a solution here if I manage to find it. I'll be very grateful if you do the same.

I'm still trying to find a cure and not going to give up. As far as I can see you are doing the same - I've found lots of sites where you've been. By the way Russian community doesn't know a solution and adviced to get rid of this card and buy a newer one or continue using Win XP.

I had no luck either. It seems that flashing solution is for the HD2 model. I'm considering to flash the card with Terratec Aureon Space firmware, and trying my luck with 64bit Vista drivers. But those drivers are old as well, from January 2008. M-Audio revolution is a bit different card by design, can't find Win7 drivers for that card too. It's like everyone gave up on Envy24HT cards...

I've found this, but I can't really figure it out. Date is fresh, a few days ago:
