Win7x64 problems using Prodigy 7.1 HiFi v1.08

After deleting previous post about 5.1 sound channels not working, I figured out what had happened using a Logitech X-530 and the Prodigy hookups--the colorcoding doesn't match the channels. The Logitch color coding works for Sound Blaster channel matching but the color coding on the Prodigy are different--the green matches up for the front left/right channels but the rear surround and center/subwoofer are switched black goes to orange and orange goes to black.

As reported by others, I have no control on the volume slider/mixer within Win7. Using the 1.08 drivers, I can no longer make adjustments on the kHz rate within the ESI control panel--its fixed at 44.1kHz. I bought this card because its been lauded as an audiophiles wet dream for sound reproduction--I have found it to be anything but. I can't get the control panel to use the ADVERTISED 192kHz.

While I now have 5.1 sound, its full of cracks, pops, and dropouts no matter the source--either MP3 files ripped at 128Kbps, 320Kbps, OR WAV files at full 44kHz-1411Kbps. Playing tracks directly from CD's do the same thing. The type of player makes no difference either--I've used Win7's built-in Media Player and AIMP2. The extraneous sounds induced into the sound files changes from play to play--so its random noise and not faults in the recording.

Is there any hope that this card will do what it's advertised in doing?
