Re: Things to try when dealing with sound distortion
written by mastasaila (User) | 01/08/2005 | 19:33 Hits: 435
This is my rig:
-Asrock K7VT6 with via kt600 (not using of the integrated sata raid)
-1 ide Maxtor Hd 120GB on primary as master
-1 Toshiba 1710 DVD-Rom + 1Teac 512EB cd writer as master and slave on secondary.
-Ati 9800pro AIW
-Wireless pci nic
-Prodigy 7.1
windows xp pro sp2
I've switched differet pci slots, removing all cards with no effect.
I've read and applied your suggestions in FAQ
I've played a little with bios settings with no results.
The card sounds good at the boot, then after playing some files or even during playing some games crackles comes out or, even worst, the sound just mute.
Looks like playing some video files with AC3 or DTS soundtrack directly from HD makes the problem comes out quicker tha just playing audio files.
Some earlier drivers seems less sensible (1993) or at least they keep going for a longer period.
Switching the latency settings from the prodigy control panel recovers the situation for a while, then the distortion comes out again.
Thanks for any help.
